Deep Tissue Massage Therapy

at Nashville Neuromuscular Center

Stress is an inherent part of daily life. Stresses can be caused by negatives like unpleasant confrontations, deadlines, financial pressures, or being overwhelmed by too much to do in too limited a timeframe. But even the joyous times like wedding planning, moving into your dream house, and activities accompanying happy holiday seasons can produce stress. It can be negative stress or it can be positive stress, but it is stress nonetheless. Smart people know a great massage can keep their stress levels down and help them maintain a healthier happier state of mind and body. There are scientific peer reviewed studies to prove this.

The dominant paradigm of the Nashville Neuromuscular Center's blended bodywork/neuromuscular massage therapy (NMT) is scientific and problem-solving in nature. And while the focus of NMT is on a permanent functional clinical outcome, by contrast a simple deep tissue massage is all about relaxing the client and relieving temporary muscular tensions.

Some of our staff provide deep tissue stress reduction massage -- the perfect treatment for the work weary, where you can just relax and drift away in the hands of one of these experienced licensed massage therapists. Please be sure you are booking the service you want and advise your therapist in advance as to what you are expecting from your session. When Life rubs you the wrong way, come see our  Massage Therapists for an educated and effective massage.

Deep tissue massage is helpful for tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. Unlike classic massage therapy, which is used for relaxation, deep tissue massage  focuses on deeper muscular tension. Please note that Deep Tissue Massage is NOT the same as Clinical Bodywork/Neuromuscular Massage. Neuromuscular Therapy does incorporate Deep Tissue Massage techniques, but involves a much more complex and thorough neuro-myo-fascial-skeletal perspective and training.

While the dominant modality of the Nashville Neuromuscular Center's Clinical massage therapy is scientific and problem-solving in nature and Our primary focus is on functional clinical outcomes, we do  also offer a simple deep tissue massage if that is your preference. Be sure to let us know what you are looking for.

According to the August 2005 issue of Consumer Reports magazine, 34,000 people ranked deep tissue massage techniques in the hands of a skilled massage therapist more effective in relieving osteoarthritis pain than physical therapy, prescription medications, chiropractic, acupuncture, diet, glucosamine and over-the-counter drugs.

Let me be clear here that Deep Tissue Massage does not have to be painfully deep pressure. It is more about specificity. When the Nashville Neuromuscular Center  massage therapist is on the precise tissue, they will not need to use dramatic force to coerce the desired muscle/myofascial response. Yes, the massage therapist will be affecting the deep tissue, but not necessarily with uncomfortably deep pressure.
